Action Cook Book. Len Deighton's Guide to Eating

Len Deighton.

Spy novelist, Len Deighton's "cookstrips" for the 'Observer'.

Description

Jonathan Cape. London. 1965. First edition. Hardback, oblong octavo; illustrated boards. 138 pages. c. 80 b&w cartoon-strip illustrations. English. 205x245mm. Very good; light wear to boards, light soiling to boards. Two aspects of Len Deighton's writing - cookery and spy novels - combine in the Action Cook Book. Between 1962 and 1966 Deighton published a weekly "cookstrip" in the Observer. The cookstrip was a cartoon-strip style recipe, where illustration replaced words. The cookstrips are reproduced here, with additional notes, as well as chapters such as 'The Secret Weapon in the Kitchen: the Blender' and 'Bachelor Foods (The Quick Cook)'.
